Feds to Hold Hearing on New Federal EPA NSPS for Marginal Wells; Members Encouraged To Testify

Sept. 25, 2019 (EPA & IPANM) – The EPA will be holding a public hearing in Dallas, Texas on October 17 to discuss the proposed policy amendments to the 2012 and 2016 NSPS for the oil and natural gas industry. The changes will eliminate some of the duplicative regulatory burden currently placed on low production wells.

IPANM encourages members who are based in the Dallas area to consider testifying. Oral testimony will be limited to five minutes, and those who wish to testify need to sign up by October 14, 2019.

For more information, please refer the official federal register notice. You may sign up to offer oral testimony through that link or by contacting Virginia Hunt by email at hunt.virginia@epa.gov (preferred) or by phone at 919-541-0832.

It is likely that environmentalists will flood the hearing with their opposition message. Therefore, you may want to consider testifying on the positive implications of the changes, particularly with respect to the overregulation of low production wells. If IPANM members need assistance with comments, IPAA’s Lee Fuller has offered his assistance to frame up arguments in support of the proposed changes. Please contact him at lfuller@ipaa.org.
