IPANM (ENDANGERED SPECIES & FEDERAL MANAGEMENT) – The Independent Petroleum Association of New Mexico submitted official federal comments on the draft BLM Carlsbad Field Office Resource Management Plan (RMP). The RMP provides a comprehensive framework for future decisions in managing public lands in Eddy and Lea counties, and parts of Chaves County.

The draft was published on Aug. 3, opening a 90-day public comment period and a notice of availability in the Federal Register.

A total of 6.2 million acres of land are under review. The area under review contains about 6.2 million acres of land within the three counties, including 2.1 million acres of public surfaces lands and nearly 3 million acres of federal minerals estate, all managed by the BLM’s Carlsbad Field Office.
