ubiquitous: It's not a word we use very often, but it is the most accurate definition of oil and natural gas. The direct use and indirect influence of oil and natural gas is so great that even those of us who work in the industry can't fully appreciate its importance. Without oil, the vast majority of Americans have no way to get food, water or clothing. Oil powers 99 percent of our transportation system, and it is a feedstock for more household and industrial products than you can believe. Oil gives us everything from plastics to nylon to rubber to aspirin. It is the most versatile energy source ever discovered. More than this, it is also the cleanest fuel known to man. That's right, the cleanest. Take away oil's ability to cleanse our personal and collective environments and everything gets real dirty, stinky and dangerous real fast. Oil is truly amazing.
